What causes discomfort during intimacy?

When you the bareness of vulnerability has you feeling stiff, we soothe your most sensitive spots to help you let go.

Emotional Stress and Cortisol

Have a vulnerability hangover? Stress and emotional trauma can cause muscle tightness in the pelvic floor and reduce natural lubrication. This combo of tension and dryness makes intimacy physically uncomfortable and emotionally difficult.

Shallow Breathing + Too Much Sitting

Anxiously rushing, short of breath, binge-watch brain-melting TV for hours, tightens and restricts blood flow to the pelvic floor. Instead of feeling pleasure in your bones, constant tension screams pain from weakness and tightness when the pressure is on to relax.

Perfectionism & Guarding

The pressure to meet impossible standards builds a wall, keeping you distant. Fear of judgment blocks relaxation, but embracing acceptance helps soften your defenses pelvic floor muscles to comfortably practice pleasure

Hormonal Changes

Society's shame around natural bodily functions can make us self-conscious, and that emotional sensitivity spikes cortisol levels. Chronic stress and muscle tension disrupt oxytocin, stunting bonding, connection, and the ability to relax enough to fully let go.

SOMATIC SKIN RITUAL

What do you feel when you touch yourself?

I feel disconnected and unsure. There's a lot of pressure to look or feel a certain way, and sometimes it's hard to just relax or enjoy it. It's hard to fully let go or be present without worrying about what’s ‘right’ or ‘expected.’”

They might avoid it because it feels too risky, emotionally taxing, or overwhelming, preferring to keep things surface-level to protect themselves from potential pain or disappointment.

Step 1: Set the Scene

Find a quiet space, sit comfortably, and take a few deep breaths. Touch your body—feel the weight of your arms, your legs, your torso—and really ground yourself in the moment. Now, rub your hands together to warm them up. The warmth signals to your body that it’s time to relax and connect. This isn’t about performance, it’s about being present with yourself.

Step 2: Apply & Tune In

Dispense the formula onto tense spots like your neck, thighs, or pelvic area, and start massaging in, focusing on how it feels. Notice the areas where you feel tight or disconnected—be curious, not critical.

Step 3: Breathe Deeply

Apply more product to your pelvic area and gently massage the formula in, using your fingertips to stimulate and relax. As you do this, breathe deeply into your pelvic floor, allowing the breath to soften and expand the area. Focus on the sensation of warmth, release, and the feeling of your body letting go with each breath.

Step 4: Reframe Discomfort with Tender Touch

As you continue to massage, ask yourself, “What do I feel when I touch myself?” Notice if discomfort or resistance arises—don’t judge it. Use gentle strokes with the product to stimulate and create space for release. Let the touch be a reminder that vulnerability is safe, and pleasure is always within reach.

Step 5: Connect and Let Go

Place your hands gently on your body, feeling warmth and connection. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and accept whatever sensations arise. No pressure, no expectation—just be present and let your body take the lead.

FAQs

WHY IS IT CALLED SELF DISCLOSURE?

  • Sexual shame exists and feeling unsafe in your own body doesn’t feel good. Getting intimate with yourself (from processing feels to physical touch) creates a comfy space for exploration.
  • This emotional stress can lead to pain, discomfort, and the absence of sexual agency in the pursuit of pleasure. When you don’t feel safe, it’s harder for you to relax, ease into vulnerability, and feel aroused — this can make sexual activity uncomfortable and even painful.
  • Being intimate requires vulnerability, a gentle and loving self-touch, and is vital in creating closeness with yourself, especially before others.
  • Our serum is created with ingredients that help to soothe the nervous system, reduce stress, and act as an aphrodisiac.

WHAT IS SELF DISCLOSURE IN PSYCHOLOGY?

This intimacy serum has not been approved by the FDA as a medical-grade lubricant. It is gyno-tested and intentionally created to help alleviate pre/post sex discomfort, externally stimulate pleasure, and promote physical exploration.

WHAT IS AN ADAPTOGEN?

Adaptogens are components of herbal medicines that have been used for hundreds of years in various cultures to improve the body's resilience in dealing with physical and emotional stresses.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I USE PER SESSION?

Try 2-3 drops on external genitals, or other sensitive areas on your body that you’d like to explore and nourish. Then go where the mood takes you.

CAN I USE SELF DISCLOSURE WITH A CONDOM OR LATEX TOY?

We do not recommend using the intimacy serum with latex condoms or silicone toys. Your favorite hand or fingers will do the trick.
